Tesco - Horse Meat - Positive Press?

The recent dicovery of Horse Meat entering the Tesco Value Product line has had an effect on the Tesco brand only time will tell how long this problem will last. 

Below is an article about the issues involved and Tesco apology that was printed accross most of the newspapers at conderable cost to Tesco.

We have seen that most of the increases in retail sales is through internet sales. 
The growth of internet sales has also led to the growth of new companies who are collecting information from consumers to spot trend in the retail market. 

Kartel World Panel is an example of company set up to provide analysis of the retail market. 

In the Supermarket Trade there are many major players and it is the competition between them that feeds this part of the economy.  In this BBC Business Article you will be able to see the different shares each of the companies has in UK.

Tesco's is one of the Major Supermarket Chains in UK, along with Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Co-operative Store, Waitrose and Lidl.

 
Tesco is has the largest share of the supermarket sales figures. Below are several articles about Tesco's and its recent problems with Horse Meat found in its Value Burgers.

We should know have a clear understanding of the way in which the Information Age has developed. The final part of Unit 1 is all about how your work is to be presented. This will be in the form of an E-Book, which is simply an electronic version of a book.

E-Books can be created using many different computer packages, see page 63 for details.

It is possible to divide the organisation by type or by sector. During the current recession it has become clear that companies with out a clear strategy to use ICT and the internet have failed will those witha strategy are doing much better. 
Below are two articles about two companies that clearly did not have an internet strategy and have paid the price. 
Task 2: Read these articles and explain why theses companies failed.

Civil Rights

One of the more contentious areas in the debate about the impact of ICT is that of Civil Rights. The more data there is on people, and the more technology is used to monitor or control people in order to keep society as a whole safe, then the more likely it is that people's right to privacy and civil rights as a whole may be compromised.
